Summer Camp with Steve and Kate's Camp!

Mom, I Know What I'm Going to Do This Summer!

"There's 104 days of summer vacation
And school comes along just to end it
So the annual problem for our generation
Is finding a good way to spend it"

My kids love Phineas & Ferb, the Disney cartoon that features Phineas,  who is always thinking up ways to squeeze more fun out of every summer day, and Ferb, the brains behind Phineas' gadgets and contraptions.  Its not just the characters of the show that captivates my kids, but the fantasy of creating each summer day on their own terms.  They want to be like Phineas, and say every morning, "I know what I'm going to do today!"

"Like maybe..."

Recording original vocal tracks and jamming on keyboards and electronic drum kits in the Music Studio, or creating signature fashion pieces and jeans in the Style Studio,  or filling custom-built animation stages to direct stop-motion films in the Animation Studio, and much more at Steve & Kate's Camp!

Steve & Kate's Camp conforms to kids, not the other way around. Instead of a rigid structure, they give their campers choice and the tools to help them become self-directed learners. There are a gazillion ways for kids to design a day at Steve & Kate's Camp! One camper might dive into breadmaking and animation while another flies down a water slide and scores a goal in our inflatable soccer stadium. It’s all up to them.

So what do kids do all day?  It's up to them.  Steve and Kate's Camp revolves are the idea that campers should have their choice of activity in order to build confidence and stay engaged.  Therefore there are not strict schedules that lock groups in to set craft, science and sports time.  Instead, kids can explore six themed "studios" , which are like exploration areas staffed with trained counselors.  Studios include style (sewing, knitting, crafting), cooking, dancing, building, music recording, and stop-motion animation.

Along with the studios, each week brings special amusements, which range from rock climbing walls to zip lines or huge water slides.  Each day also includes designated small group time where the kids check in with their counselors and play games or chat about how their day is going.

Just like one of Phineas' crazy inventions, Steve and Kate's Camp has created a brilliant new way of enrolling for summer camp, too.  You can buy any number of day passes, use them whenever you want, and get an automatic refund for unused passes. If you need the whole summer, they have a membership plan, too. Healthy lunch and snacks are included.

So what are you waiting for?  There are two locations this summer near Almaden: in Willow Glen at Booksin Elementary and in Los Gatos at Alta Vista Elementary School.  Sign-ups have started so secure your kid's spots now!  In the words of Phineas and Ferb,

" This is the BEST camp ever!", (thumbs up by Ferb).

Stay tuned for more Steve and Kate's Camp Studio Spotlights coming soon.
