Its Pumpkin Time in Almaden Valley!

Don't you just love pumpkin time... From the warm days and cinnamon-y smells to the outdoor decorations and farm-like gatherings!   I have prepared a list of local family activities, and other ones you may not want to miss, that are going on this October.

Pumpkin Patches

Spina Farms Pumpkin Patch in Morgan Hill at the corner of Santa Teresa and Bailey, features an old- fashioned pumpkin patch with a train, hay rides, picnic area, and petting zoo.  This is one we try to hit each year, and its really close to Almaden! 

Uesugi Farms Pumpkin Patch  on Monterey Road in Morgan Hill is the place to go for a day trip.  In fact, many schools take their class trips here.  The crew educates you on the development of pumpkins with a tour and short film, there are many rides: hay rides, train rides, a carousel; corn maze, hay stacks, pumpkins galore, picnic and snack bar area, Pumpkin Weigh Off (this weekend, Oct. 12 at 1pm.) Be sure to bring your wallet, they charge for the attractions. 

Pick of the Patch Pumpkins newest location at Blossom Hill and Almaden Expressway.  Lots of fun for kids ages 2-12 with inflatables and lots of pumpkins.  The lot is maintained by ABC Tree Farm. 

Giordano Farms Fall Harvest Pumpkin Patch  on Snell Ave. and Chynoweth.    The Loose Caboose train.... need I say more... bunnies, a huge field of pumpkins with different varieties, a hay maze and a tractor.  My kids LOVE this one! 

Festivals & Events

Halloween Scary Boo at Gilroy Gardens weekends of 10/5-10/27.  ($20 off adult general admission coupon in Bay Area Parent!)

Fall Fun at Happy Hollow weekends in Oct. is loaded with fun fall treats like face painting, corn maze, carnival area, and more. 

Goblyn's Glen in Los Gatos (Oak Meadow Park) weekends in Oct. A fun family haunt!  

Pumpkins in the Park Oct. 12 at Discovery Meadow by the Children's Discovery Museum.  A huge San Jose festival. 

Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont Annual Harvest Festival on Oct. 12.  This one is the real deal, authentically speaking, if you haven't been to Ardenwood, this is the time to go!  

Harvest Faire & Steam Festival at Roaring Camp Railroads Oct. 12-13. Purchase tickets online!

Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival 2012

Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival THE Pumpkin Festival and a fun day trip. Oct. 19-20.  

Hidden Villa in Los Altos Hills- Halloween Haunts and Little Pumpkin Party (ages 1-4) Oct. 25-27.  Register now, these fun family events will fill up! 

Harvest Festival and Holiday Boutique at the Almaden Community Center & Almaden Library on Oct. 26th. Seasonal booths, activities, stories, a haunted hallway, costume parade, and more.
